SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

​A grass roots group, the Point Arena Independence Weekend Committee (PAIWC), has formed to take the lead in coordinating the Fourth of July activities that have been a tradition for decades. Point Arena Community Chest is receiving donations for this committee. PAIWC is asking the coastal community for its help in keeping this event alive by helping us raise the needed funds.  To donate, you can either click on the button above which will take you to this campaign, or you can go into Redwood Credit Union Point Arena branch and make a donation to Point Arena Community Chest fireworks account: @3279Poin-S20. The weekend has historically included a Saturday afternoon and evening Fireworks Festival Street Fair at Arena Cove, a nighttime fireworks extravaganza launched from the Arena Cove Pier, and Point Arena Independence Day Parade on Sunday down Main Street in downtown Point Arena.  All of these events will require both cash and volunteers, and that is what the PAIWC is asking the community to provide.  The biggest single expense is the $10K needed for the fireworks show.  In order to pay for the various expenses required to support all of the events – permits, insurance, materials, publicity support, port-a-potties, shuttle, entertainment - PAIWC will need to raise at least another $15K. 

Besides money there is also a need for volunteers to support the many facets of the weekend’s events.  PAIWC welcomes anyone with time, enthusiasm and willingness to help to volunteer both for pre-event activities and day of event support.  Coordinating street fair vendors and entertainers, setup for the street fair and parade, collecting donations, parking attendants and clean up are just some of the tasks that volunteers are needed to perform.
